Well I already have some Noctua fans on it at 1500rpm which seems to cool it better then the stock ones at 3000rpm. I was thinking of adding back the stock fans but the noise level would increase.

It can help but if the fans aren't the same they can have slight differences in pressure, CFM and such. For that motherboard you'll have custom fan curves you can configure in the BIOS or using Asus's AI suite Software.

Usually it will just cause excess turbulence and noise, where either the intake fan will be pushing too much air and the exhaust can't keep up or the other way around where the exhaust draws too much for the intake. It's one of the reasons why it's recommended to sandwich the same fans together in push pull in one space to avoid that.

While I agree with the general sentiment that the fans should be the same type for push-pull, experience has shown me that it isn't going to ruin anything if you mix fans.

 

I have a temporary push-pull setup on a 120 rad cooling my GPU. It has a Corsair ML120 and an SP120. Both of these fans are running off the same motherboard fan header via a PWM Y-splitter.

 

The results were that I did manage to get (very) slightly cooler temperatures with less noise due to the fans being able to run at lower RPMs.

 

The only issue I noticed was that I had to set the minimum speeds a little higher than before, from 30% to 40% on the PWM control, just to get the fans spinning.

But all that said, it's still quieter than it was before with a single fan which had to ramp up considerably more to maintain my target temps. (I use SpeedFan to set fan curves)

 

So all in all, I say go ahead and experiment for now. There's no real harm or danger in it. Worst case is that you won't get the noise levels where you want them to be for your target temps.

Best case, it just works and you've saved yourself some money.
