I have 100% no clue on what it is that I need to do here. I have a 640Gb drive form a laptop that is totally messed up. The drive still powers up and spins and even reads but the data on it is so corrupted somehow that the second i plug it in to format the drive can't find anything but partitions it will never be able to finish reading. if i plug in the drive and try to open my computer my entire PC locks up for a few minutes until a single partition shows up that is 100MB (system reserve) i am trying to format that or whatever but its just not happening also I want to remove everything form this drive. there are 3 partitions one is windows and the other 2 are system reserve and recovery. Nothing on this HDD is bootable or usable.

How am i to format this drive if all the computer does it wait for it to become readable?

EDIT: I may have found a solution... i downloaded WD Data LifeGaurd and I'm performing a write zeros to the physical HDD so hopefully if this works Windows will eb able to format the drive and make it usable but the smart test failed.

maybe if you have an Windows installer like a disk or a USB drive you can boot onto that and them erase and reformat the disk from there. I don't entirely understand what you are trying to do.

I want to 100% format the drive and remove all the partitions but the second I plug the drive into any PC it tries to read the data on the partitions and it gets stuck and makes the system lock up. I tried to use the disk management in windows but that doesn't even open because its waiting for the hdd to become ready.
