Hello gents, and ladies ofcourse.

My girlfriend wants to take an interest into my hobby, gaming, and she wants to play a game on her laptop/or mine. Now obviously i cant drop het into a ranked match of Rainbow 6 Siege for a first time.

So i was wondering if any of you could suggest some games with a slow learning curve, I was thinking Astroneer or some other "kids" or "peaceful" oriented game.

Shoot me with your best ideas :) Her only experience is Wii Sports..

Greetings,

Hydra

I'm kind of shooting in the dark when we don't know what sorts of games she'll end up liking. But puzzle and adventure games with a heavy story emphasis are probably a good place to start. Things like Portal/Portal 2, Firewatch, Gone Home, and various games by Telltale that aren't mechanically demanding but might still catch the interest of someone who isn't familiar with video games. And while they are more "core" titles, I've seen casual/newbie gamers get really into some action titles like the newer Tomb Raider games, Shadow of Mordor, Arkham, etc.

Keep in mind that, while rare, demos still exist. Doom, Civ V, Resident Evil 7, and The Division all have free demos that might give her an opportunity to try something completely different without any money involved. If you go to the Steam store page, there's a "Demos" section under the Games dropdown menu at the top.

Anything not online and not too fast paced, you could try cities skylines. Or something like portal

cities skylines is rather complex to start off with i think, and i think the fps genre would be the most engaging for her, so portal is a good idea, thanks!

if she wants to she can use my pc to play whatever she wants, so she's basically free to play whatever she wants. If i own it or not(arrrggg pirates).

I'll note them down, thanks for the suggestions :)

... as others suggested, steam demos or free2play titles are a good idea.

when my brothers girlfriend moved in, she was kind of in the same spot ... she had not really played anything except a few wii titles and "girly" DS games (nintendogs 'n' stuff).

she started playing sims and stardew valley not long after i fixed and upgraded her computer, minecraft next and then warframe and rocket league ... now she seems to have fully mutated into a gamer, complete with RGB keyboard and everything :D

i would also dig up some games that have a co-op story mode so you can spend quality time together

portal 2 is an example, it requires teamwork but is not all that punishing if a player messes up - good for getting used to FPS controls.

once she got the controls down, move on to something bigger, both on dificulty and story. maybe resident evil 5 or 6 - very fun to play though in co-op.

but you both will mess up a lot because of all the quick time BS they put into the games

good idea actually, ill have a look into it, was also thinking of the battlefield bad company series, since the story is so entertaining.

final step to becoming a gamer is the rgb keyboard yeah.. :)

well technically, you can be a kickass gamer and still rock a $20 keyboard but it's not very likely for someone who does not care about gaming all that much to spend a ton of money on a mechanical RGB keyboard, gamepad and gaming mouse - did i mention the 26" monitor and windowed case?

you totally NEED that to be a trv g4m3r ;)
