don't include a case and a power supply because I already have those. I was thinking of a build with an AMD Ryzen 7 1700 and a rx 470. I want to do some video editing / recording and some 1080p gaming on the side. Please leave down your suggestions for a build.

Suggestion 1: Don't go Ryzen

No one on earth would be insane to spend more than half of the budget for a cpu and motherboard alone

Agreed,

Wait for ryzen 5 (4c 8t) higher clock speeds than the 1700/x and cheaper than an i7

Why wait for ryzen 5 when the ryzen 7 will give better performance..?

a ryzen 7 1700 alone would be half your budget. forget about ryzen for now, either wait for a ryzen 5 or get an intel i7 instead.

Are you on crack?

Ryzen 5 will have better game performance because of lower core count...

Compare a 6900k to a 7700k

just because the 6900k has 8c 16t doesnt mean it has better game performance...

EDIT: I didnt explain, the 7700k has less cores so the cores can be clocked higher.

he's doing video editing, those 8 cores will outperform the 7700k.

thank you, lol the main reason for building this PC is for video editing. So I don't mind spending half the budget on my cpu and mobo. Since ryzen 7 doesn't have integrated graphics I need to get a graphics card. the rx 470 will more than fulfill my gaming needs hahah . Idk if I should build an i7 PC instead and use the integrated graphics on it until I have enough to buy a beast graphics card..

I didn't say wait. I said don't go at all

Ryzen 5 is cheaper duh. Unless you plan to make a stupidly bad pc just to brag about having Ryzen 7

This is exactly why i said wait for ryzen 5...

It will probably be equivalent to an i7 4790k in performance, when you only have 700 to work with its not worth it to get a ryzen7

This is really the lowest you can go if you want to edit videos. No SSD because the increased capacity of the HDD will help with storing the videos.. If you wanted a much better build youd need to increase the budget to like 800-850
