gaming on 1x4K and 2x1080p

Go to solution Solved by Techicolors,

if you want to run games on the 4k monitor only, you'll have to play games in borderless windowed mode, keeping the other two monitors active in the background.

if you want to play on all three, the game will have to support arbitrary resolutions and triple monitor setups. http://www.wsgf.org/ is your friend

Is it possible to game on a 4K monitor with 2 1080 monitors vertically nex to the 4K one simultaniousely, so that in the end you would have "a 2160p ultrawidescreen" even if 1080p 16:9 is only 1920 in width?

like this:

Something like this.

My idea is to mainly only game on the middle 4K monitor and use the other two 1080p ones for productivity, and if I feel like it i'd want to play a game on all 3 monitors - would that be possible, and how?

If Eyefinity support hasn't changed much since the AMD 6900 series, something like this could definitely work in games that do support multi-monitor setups. However, I do specifically mean AMD's Eyefinity. Nvidia Surround requires more or less identical monitors to work and is far more picky.

Corsair 900D | MSI MPower Max Z87 AC | i7-4790K @ 4.7Ghz | 1080 Ti SLI | 16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 2400
XSPC Raystorm | EK-FC Nickel GPU block/backplate | 2x Alphacool UT60 480mm & XT45 240mm | 11x Linus Edition NF-F12
Schiit Modi/Magni 2 Uber | 5" KRK Rokit G3 | KRK 10S2 | Acer Predator X34 | Dell S2716DG

ok, so currently i still got 2 r9 390x, which should do for fine for 4k but i want to go nvidia, most likely a 1080ti (mainly because of noise and powerconsumption, and i want to watercool my system, cba watercooling my 390x'), so since there isn't anything like eyefinity for nvidia im pretty much lost it seems :/

I'm afraid so. This will definitely not work in Surround. Surround wouldn't even work for me when I had an Asus ROG Swift and two Dell S2716DGs (all three are 1440p, 144hz, G-Sync displays that use the exact same LG panel). I had to replace the Swift with a third Dell.
