It's referring to only having U.2 support with the add in card. Not the m.2 based cards.
The turbo U.2 card is just a pin-for-pin connector change. it doesn't magically add PCIe connectivity to the M.2 slot.

m.2 based NVMe drives will work inside the motherboard just fine.
