Looking forward to setup a home lab desktop configuration to learn virtualization,  Looking for an mid range budget configuration, Can you suggest some specifications with max CPU cores+ supportable 64 ram board.

I would wait for a cheap Ryzen with more cores, as a couple off VM's would like more cores. FX is dead, so I'm not sure if you can get those anymore.
