I had lots of tabs open to ebay products I was interested in, I let them be for about a week before checking in on the tabs and when I pressed refresh each and every product was off the listing, and the message was the seller made an error in the listing. I call absolute bs on that, and it got me wondering what other scams sellers pull. Its a totally reputable seller with 100% positive rating over 10's of thousands of sales and the end date for the sales were 27 days away and the price was ultra cheap.

 

Another few were I bought somethings from a handful of different sellers and cancelled it right away late at night on a Friday and it was a statutory long weekend holiday. Yet the item got listed as shipped, so I shook my head and called bs on that as well.

 

The classic is a very high shipping price, or an outrageously high price for the item itself. Like lets say a $0.20 bolt from Home Depot yet ebay lists it for $500. I havent quite figured out why the ebay sellers do that, but its total bs and I got a feeling it has to do with inventory or its place in the search que.

But ebay has 100% buyer protection up to $5,000. Also if you get reported ebay won't pay you or let you cash out any money that you have made until it is settled

Just keeping this here as a I think the seller wanted to get a feel for how the products would sell, but I am guessing. I have noticed odd and weird actions by the popular seller. Once his total items for sale went from thousands down to none, back up to 500 within a few days, then back to normal within 3 weeks.

If a seller doesn't know how much his/her item is worth you can do an auction and make it so the item won't sell until it hits that price.

And yes, Ebay almost ALWAYS sides with the buyer even if they are at fault

This type of stuff does happen, I don't remember the last time I actually got a 'steal' or highly discounted deal on ebay but that's usually because of deman.

Sellers can't constantly end auctions early and claim mistakes or the account eventually gets locked. I think there's also a time limit, if someone has bid on it and there are less than 12 hours left, the auction has to remain unless item is reported "lost or broken", 

So there are loop holes but if an account abuses of them, they eventually loose their ability to sell on that username, and still have to pay fees. 

One of the worst things sellers do is have multiple accounts to bid on their own junk, or have friends bid on their items so they don't go too low..
