Hey, SO I saw some posts RE: Bitcoin mining programs but IDK if they differ between currencies and I couldn't find anything about LTC so here goes.

 

Can you tell me any software that lets you mine LTC (LiteCoin) and preferably has a GUI?

Not worth it. Mining cryptos except new sketchy scammy ones is not worth it unless you have loads of money to invest in expensive specialised mining hardware.

It's more of an experiment, I know very well that it won't be worth it but it's an experimental thing

I had a play with cryptocoin mining a few months back. If you're trying to get into it now you're WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY late to the party.

 

There are now data centres that run with the sole purpose of coin mining. Solo mining is also a ridiculous idea, you need to join a pool and then you split the "prize".

It's honestly a waste of time, to do it as a fun project, why not. Just don't expect to get anything out of it, the electricity bill will be more than those cryptocoins;)

 

EDIT: although it does depends on what currency you choose. Taking a punt with emerging currencies could pay off.

I'm not sure that this is the best forum to ask. I speak from experience, I have been mining profitably since 2016, and that was already 'very late to the game'. 

The truth is mining is bigger than ever, home mining has indeed made a resurgence, and home miners are currently on the edge waiting for vega 10 release to see how those gpus will perform.

I'm happy to answer any of your questions and suggest some forums for you to visit and learn better, just PM me. But before even considering it, and I get you say it's just an experiment, but you should still be aware of your electrical costs,  electrical circuit needs, space needs, investment required, and heat management in summer vs winter.
