Budget School System Build

Hey guys,

I've posted about this a few times before, but after making a few changes I wanted to know if this budget build would be ok. It's for some light cad work, research, and miscellaneous robotics programs every once in a while. We're going to 3d print motherboard standoffs and legs to make a test bench type case, so there is no need for a case. I'm mostly worried about the motherboard and power supply. Amazon had to be used as frequently as possible, as that's how the school orders parts.

PCPartPicker part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/p4RF3F

This is what I recommend and I'll explain why.

CPU: Intel Pentium G4560 3.5GHz Dual-Core Processor  ($61.99 @ Jet)
Motherboard: ASRock B250M-HDV Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($67.99 @ SuperBiiz)

Storage: Sandisk SSD PLUS 480GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($130.98 @ Newegg)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 2GB ACX 2.0 Video Card  ($108.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Case: NZXT Source 220 ATX Mid Tower Case  ($54.99 @ B&H)
Power Supply: SeaSonic S12II 430W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($46.98 @ Newegg)
Total: $523.91

As stated by others, the 500W PSU is a decent PSU, but there are much better available for a few bucks more.  430W Can push 95% of systems out there and won't need to be replaced to be honest.  You forgot to select a case and I agree with the GTX 1050 recommendation.  I chose a 480GB SSD because it will last you much longer and the need for a storage drive may never arise.  Lastly, that board may not work with that CPU out of the gate.  So unless you have a 6th gen CPU laying around to update the bios it may not work.

That's $135 over budget.

Consider  SeaSonic SSP-350SE instead of the EVGA psu..

Oh, whoops. Thanks for pointing that out. I've done like 5 builds all with Seasonic, time to make it 6.
