Is usb the primary boot device? If so, make it the second, then redo the install but after you save tell it to save and boot to the usb then on restart it wont try to access the usb again.

Yeah i tried all that. Solved the issue a while ago by installing the pro version without a key and then upgrading to education key. Didn't realise having an education key, you needed a customized install file/upgrade from existing version.

Hey,

I'm trying to install win 10 off a USB.

I go through the install process - language, key, waiting, etc.

Then it goes to restart and both when I pull the USB and when I don't it fails.

If I dont pull the USB it restarts the install process. If i do pull it, it says install failed and to do it all over.

I've even tried changing the boot order during the restart to the SSD instead of the USB but leaving the USB in there.

Also tried not entering the product key during the install.

Nothing has worked, please help!

Its definitely a bootorder/ boot manager issue...

1) are you clean installing or trying to upgrade?

2) are there any other disks in the machine that have previously had an OS on them?

For clean install can you confirm you've formatted the target drive and also formatted (or unplugged) any other drives in the machine.

Its a brand new laptop, clean installing onto a 960 evo ssd which is the only available drive in the installer.
