Cheapest, Most Reliable Server?

Go to solution Solved by Erkel,

Just go with amazon AWS like everybody else does.  You get what you pay for, Can easily scale it, just pay more money for a larger instance when you need it.

Hi!

I currently run a (small) video website using approx. 560GB of Bandwidth a month. I'm currently on shared hosting, and to be completely honest with you, I'm sick of it. I'm sick of shared hosting. The only reason I was using shared hosting in the first place, is because I didn't think it was going to work. The site has started to gradually get bigger now, and I want to start thinking about running my own server.

I've looked into the logistics of doing this, but I don't know where to start. What I would like to do, is run my website off a Linux Server.. but like I said, I have no idea where to start (NOOB ALERT!). I'm looking for the cheapest option to accommodate my current needs.. nothing too fancy.

Thanks in advance!

If you're alright with unmanaged, check out OVH / Kimsufi / SoYouStart (Same company, three different tiers, OVH has the high end expensive stuff, Kimsufi is cheaper lower power servers, and SoYouStart is in the middle.

https://www.soyoustart.com/us/

https://www.kimsufi.com/us/

Pretty much with these the only support you'll get is hardware based, anything with the software side is pretty much on you to figure out. I'm sure they can help with some stuff on the software side, I'm just not sure how much.

With SoYouStart, you could get a server with an Intel J1900 Celeron (Quadcore) with 4GB of RAM and 2x4TB HDDs for $56 USD/month.

Or with Kimsufi, there are servers with an i5 2300 (Quadcore), 16GB of RAM, and 2TB of HDD capacity for $32/month, along with plenty of other options.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

Let me put it this way, if I wanted to upload my videos to a site, I would not want it to be on the 'Cheapest, Most Reliable Server' the owner could find. Again, what is cheap for you? Also you will need to purchase a lot of storage, and preferably redundant storage.

Edit: Shit, I thought you meant server rack, physical server. Not an online hosting company. Lol.

GPU: XFX RX 7900 XTX

CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D
