Forcing refresh rate

I can overclock my monitor to 75Hz which looks slightly smoother than 60Hz. The problem is that in some demanding games I'd like to use 60Hz but there isn't refresh rate option in game menu so they run 75Hz. So is it possible to force some games to run 60Hz when I'm using 75Hz monitor?

 

There used to be Preferred refresh rate option in Nvidia Control panel but I have no idea why it isn't there anymore. 

 

And don't tell me to use FPS limiter in Nvidia Inspector. 60FPS on 75Hz monitor isn't as smooth as on 60 FPS on 60Hz monitor

You can just manually change the custom refresh rate before launching the game and changing back after you are done playing?

For some reason Nvidia Control Panel monitor settings are very buggy and it takes a while to change the refresh rate and sometimes I even need to restart my PC. Maybe I should try overclocking with EVGA Precision.

If you are facing such issues I really advise DDU'ing the drivers and getting all "brand-new" straight from Geforce Experience.

I ran DDU and installed the latest drivers but that didn't help. I also noticed that changing the refresh rate with Nvidia control panel messes up colors and contrast so I have to calibrate my monitor again after I change the refresh rate. I found "Prefered refresh rate" in Nvidia Inspector but that didn't work. I still had 75 FPS in The Witcher 3 with vsync enabled :(

EDIT: EVGA Precision didn't want to overclock my monitor so I give up. I have to stick with 60Hz.

That is a shame, most of the time I actually only see these 60hz monitors gaining a few extra hertz before breaking the image, if you want better refresh rates the way is getting it natively I suppose.

I just ordered myself MSI RX 480 Gaming X 8G so I can enable freesync.

 

My monitor's freesync range is 48-72 so I can probably expand it to 35-75.
