I'm currently using an i7 3770 (non-k) with an Asus Sabertooth z77. Is it worth the upgrade (price + performance) to get an i5-7600k with an Asus B150 PRO motherboard?

I have to ask why the z77 sabertooth with a non K chip? There would be a decent performance gain but id wait for Ryzen

It's more of a sidegrade IMO.

Going from an i7 to an i5 is stupid, even if the i5 is a newer generation.

OP should keep his PC (it's still pretty damn good) until the Ryzen 6-cores come out. then upgrade with a B350 motherboard and a R5 1600*.

*note that Ryzen model numbers and performance are based off speculation and rumor. they may not be as good as the hype says. wait for independent benchmarks.

I agreed with i7 to i5  is not good, but if you're on sandy and ivy maybes but a upgrade isnt wrong to consider especially with Ryzen

Very cool! So is the Ryzen 1700X the only model worth the upgrade from my I7? Or is there other models of the Ryzen I should look into as well?

There are three more models. 1700 1700x and 1800x. Wait for benchmarks/videos and ask the forum again or read some post that are definitely going to happen and make a judgment based off of that
