What is your system specifications (e.g. CPU, motherboard, Operating System, etc) ?
If you are, by any chance, using Windows 7, then that might be a problem.
Windows 7 does not natively support 3TB or larger storage drives using LBA format -- you need to use GPT.
Additionally to that, you may need to check if your motherboard can support 3TB or larger drives, AND if there are any necessary drivers to do so.
This limitation was resolved with Windows 8 / 8.1 and later, with the introduction of EFI / UEFI BIOS.
