CPU Multiplier?

So I was watching an old Video abut budget PC building and around the end he said something about turning the CPU Multiplier up to 42 to 44 in the bios. What does this do and are there any other changes i should make if I decide to build a pc?

You have the base clock and the multiplier. The actual clock speed of your CPU cores is gauged by multiplying the base clock with the multiplier. So for example, let's say your base clock is at 100MHz, and your multiplier is at 40. The frequency of each core(in theory) would be 4GHz, or 4000MHz.

Will this interfere with overclocking?

In order to overclock, you will likely need to use the multiplier, so the CPU will need to be a K series from Intel, or a Black Edition CPU from AMD.
