Card terminals make good sources for interesting parts

Curious Pineapple

Thermal printer modules, decent displays, keypads among other things can be ripped from card terminals. Most have FLASH storage and SRAM too.

Ingenico use "standard-ish" modules, but with different connectors so some reverse engineering is needed. I had no problems finding datasheets for parts used in an old Hypercom terminal, and the ML30 pin-pad form Ingenico has everything you need for RFID/contactless communication with a nice hand solderable MFRC531.
