4K settings

So I was searching around to try to find some answers on whether to downscale 4k to 1440p and how 1440p ultra on a 4k monitor looks compared to 4k low on a 4k monitor and I was having trouble finding the answers to what I was searching, so

 

1. If all resolutions are on native monitors which would look best, 4k Low aa off, 1440p very high aa off or 1080 Maxed everything including aa on?

2. If I have a 4k monitor but can only run low at around 60fps and medium at around 50fps should I downscale to 1440p very high or just stick with 4k low, which of the two would look better? (they would both be around 60fps)

3. My monitor is 60hz and so am I better off making my settings as pretty as possible to try to get around 60fps or lower them to get higher? Apparently higher fps reduces input lag but can also introduce screen tearing?

1. Depends on the content. But having more details rendered and being able to display less has more rich image than vise versa.

2. Basicly same question.

3. No point of aiming more than 60fps, because you won`t see it.

I use my 4K monitor for gaming but almost always run games in 1440p with higher AA and higher overall settings. I think that at the moment 1440p is the sweet spot for current gen hardware and current gen games as you can play in a higher-than-average resolution without having to turn all of the other settings down to keep a reasonable framerate. It just seems counter intuitive to run the game in low settings with (i'm presuming) quite nice hardware.

If I was going to use my monitor for gaming only, I would have saved my money and gone with a 1440p display instead.
