I found a monitor laying around and decided top add it to my current set up, but nothing is showing up on the screen. It is connected via DVI (though a vga adapter). The computer picks up that there are three monitors but the screen says "There is no signal coming from your computer. Press and key on the keyboard or mouse to wake it up"

Again the computer picks up the third display and even says the monitor type (a DELL E170S).

I have made sure my graphics card can do three monitors and it can (it can go up to 4). The graphics card is a

"GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1050 Ti DirectX 12 GV-N105TG1 GAMING-4GD 4GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 ATX Video Card"

and it is updated to the most recent driver.

I don't know if there is a setting im just overlooking or what

Fixed:

My adapter (vga male to dmi female) did not work so I just went with a hdmi to vga. Works fine now

Did you select the right input on the monitor?

If possible, try the adapter with another working monitor/cable/computer to make sure but that sounds like that is the case.  I don't know much about adapters, I know some need to be active/passive but I'm not sure which.  Did the adapter work before?
