System can't boot from SSD properly

Go to solution Solved by HeftyNugget,

I found a soltuion - it works flawlessly now, both drives.

Here's what helped me:

"

open command prompt

diskpart

lis vol

( Look to see the drive letter for your main windows partition – if it is D then type as below, otherwise replace D with the letter diskpart gives for the main windows partition)

sel vol d

act

exi

Basically, I have 2 drives - my WDC 1TB HDD and a 250GB Samsung 840 Pro.

Not so long ago my WDC started popping info through SMART that it'll soon stop working and that I should make a backup and discontinue using it, so ofcourse I did a backup and kept on using it while I can.. but that's not important.

2 months later (now), my system stopped fully booting - it either boots to a black screen with cursor or boots infinitely on either 'Welcome' or 'Starting Windows' screen.. obviously my first guess was 'HDD died' but I have system installed on SSD, so HDD dying shouldn't affect windows booting.

Just to make sure that HDD isn't the cause - I disabled it via BIOS and tried booting again to no avail.

Now I've removed SSD from it's 'cage' and plugged it via SATA->USB connector to my laptop and it seems to work fine, at maximum speeds and without dataloss, in fact CrystalDiskInfo shows that my SSD is at 'Good(100%) Health'.

I'm absolutely clueless what to do now, how to verify that it's SSD that physically broke and not the windows installation (which I can't seem to reinstall, because my SSD is invisible to BIOS)

Maybe your MBR was on the HDD?

Any way I could verify it? - I currently have my SSD plugged to my laptop and I can see all the files, if MBR was on my HDD, finding it on SSD wouldn't be possible - correct?

Sorry that's the limit of my knowledge. :)

You might want to check Google. Are you able to boot from the SSD on another PC?

I edit my posts a lot.

I don't have another PC sadly, but perhaps I can boot on laptop through SSD?

You might want to look if it's possible in the BIOS or by switching out your laptop drive.

I tried booting from it, here's result:

install windows installer on your laptop and install on a usb. Go to BIOS and select boot device usb try booting your pc  and when windows installer pops up click on trubleshotting. Then see what you can do.
