This is pretty much based on AMD's ecosystem, although, as always, it's subject to change.

(This is assuming that Ryzen is a success, also I'm not 'definitely' going to buy into whatever speculated parts there are, for all we know Intel and Nvidia may become the new value kings in a few years. This is just my plan on what I will upgrade.)

2017: The Build

I don't play games a lot, and even when I do, the 'cheap' graphics card that I chose can handle them.

2018: No planned upgrades, I am just gonna use my computer revise and revise until my exams are over :(

2019: Upgrading:

Graphics Card to AMD Navi

Buying an aftermarket CPU Cooler

Adding another stick of 8GB RAM for 16GB

Buying a 4K monitor

2020: Storage? (If SSDs become cheap and make mechanical drives obsolete)

Start filling my steam library

Hopefully Linux grows even more in gaming, so I can then delete my Windows partition.

2021: Upgrading:

CPU to an 8 core

Motherboard

Case?? (Depends if my motherboard's ATX or not)

Hopefully the machine lasts for years to come :D

Yeah, but you can't allot for new technologies and pricing. I don't get the point of saying what you want to upgrade 5 years from now.

Well I was looking at what I need now, and what I will need in the future.

I was using technologies that have already been announced as a prediction, and I have already said that this is subject to change.
