Hello, how are you?

I have a question.

I have a friend that is interested in getting a prebuilt HP gaming computer.

He is not techsavy so wants to go this route.

He is eyeing an HP Phoenix 860.

That particular model comes with a 6700K cpu.

From what I gather, this is the board it comes with:

It says it is a Z170 chipset board.

So a 6700K together with a z170 board can overclock right?

If so, how can it be done?

Does the HP board have bios settings for overclock?

Anyone have experience overclocking such machines?

Also, from what I saw, the cooler is a OEM Asetek 120mm AIO.

Cheers!

A bare-bone OEM board with a Z170 chipset... that is interesting. If it really is a Z170 board, it should be able to overclock provided they haven't blocked those options in the BIOS. But don't expect some crazy overclock as by just looking at the layout of the board, I doubt the power delivery circuitry can handle the increased power demands.

It may allow for overclocking but judging by near completely lack of heatsinking on the VRMs I might skip overclocking anything.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
