Hello I would like to get your suggestions on what the best pc build would be with a budget of $1,300 (+ 150 if it's worth it) I would like to game at 4k 144hz if possible and to be reasonably powerful with boinc more specifically seti@home and atlas@home, you don't need to add the price of peripherals

ps, go green

i would wait for ryzen reviews - but i can put together an intel build

Wait for Ryzen. Even if you decide not to get it, it would be wise to see how things pan out.

Physically not possible as there are no monitors to support that. Also, the hardware required to support that would be way out of your budget.

4k+144hz isn't possible on 1300 bucks for any reasonably graphically intensive game without having the settings wayyy down. You could probably do it on some MOBAs or some shooters though. And its not possible on any budget as there isn't hardware capable of running 144fps @ 4k... even titan XP SLI isn't getting you 144hz in most recent of AAA games

P.s. I'm not aware of any current 144hz 4k monitors available. There should be 2 coming out later this year though (from acer and asus), but as of now, that number is 0

Frankly the technology isn't available yet for what you want, and even if it did you certainly couldn't get it for 1300 bucks.

But they alone would likely blow OPs budget wide open, likely in the $2000 range, $1500 if TN and crappy.

Not yet, we need to see more benchmarks of the new ryzen cpu's.

Don't pre order, never a good idea to pre order hardware, you never know if it's gonna be good or not.

oh, you misunderstood me then, i already have a 6800k build that my work compensate me for - i just want a ryzen build now - if it's really good i'll use it as a daily driver - if it's not that good ill just shove it into a htpc

they're both IPS 27" with QD tech and HDR support +G-sync (and I think HDMI 2.1, which begs the question why G-sync).... they're going to be stupidly costly and worth every penny xD

For reference you can look up the PG27UQ (that will be the Asus model) if you're looking for specs. But yeah, that monitor alone will consume most of his budget (if not more)

Currently only the Quadro P5000 and P6000 support HDMI 2.1 and HDMI 2.1 is the only thing that can support resolutions over 5K@60Hz so that is going to awkward for quite a bit (at least until the next generation of GPUs but maybe longer)...

The sheer amount of bandwidth is also a bit...well astounding at 48 gigabits/second (or 6 gigabytes/second requiring a new 48G cable for anything at or over 4K 100Hz)

Yeah, but by the time those new 4k 144hz monitors come out, the next generation of GPU will be here and will be sporting that port. They will probably be deliberately timed to release together.

If you have $1500, Tech Deals put together an amazing setup that will last for some time.  I used this as the baseline for my build as well (with tweaks, but that's just my build):

Midnight Rig - CPU: i7-7700K / Cooler: Corsair h100i V2 / Motherboard: AsRock Z270 Taichi / RAM: G.Skill TridentZ 3200Mhz / GPU: EVGA GTX 1070 FTW2 / SSD: Crucial MX300 525GB / HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200rpm / PSU: EVGA Supernova B2 750W
