Pluging eGPU to MXM port

Hello,

 

My laptop's MXM GPU dies recently, I found some solutions on the internet to plug an eGPU to a laptop using the Express Card slot and an adapter, but I was wondering if I couldn't use my laptop's MXM 3.b port to plug-in the GPU or do I need an adapter as well ?

 

It's an Alienware M17X R4 of 2012 (AMD 7970m version)

Why not just buy a new card that fits your MXM slot?

Desktop: i9 11900k, 32GB DDR4, 4060 Ti 8GB 🙂

Because MXM cards are quite expensive and as I'm using my laptop as a desktop, I'd rather have an eGPU
