Some help with a upgrade.

hi my one friend asked me to help him he bought Ghost and then found out he cant play it . Becouse of hes GPU. now i would just like to know if someone can maybe help me i dont know Old Radeon crads  that wel he has the HD 4870 2Gig 

and i want to know what would be a good replacement for about $200 and please can you give a Nvidia and Radeon card? He likes nvidia more so he would like to have a choice.

 

o and i Know hes CPU and Ram will potbelly be bottleneck but he just wants a cheap upgrade on PC to play ghost.

the MB he has i don't know but has a Phenome II X4 940 not sure about that ram but its DDR2 but is faster then 800 Mhz.

will it work if i just add 4 gb of 800Mhz and downclock the aster memory to 800 ? I know it works with new MB just not to sure about old once that use DDR2 ^^

4870 was a good card back then and should still be more than enough for ghosts, if when you say "he cant play it" you mean its not on the reccomended cards list that doesnt mean anything so ignore it.
the phenom will be fine and the ddr2 ram should still be enough, try it and see, record with fraps and see what frames he gets.
