Just gotta click really fast, but there should be plenty of the lower end chips to go around

So my buddy is was running of his first ever PC build. He currently has it paired with a 6970. His Mobo just died and he is looking to upgrade instead of replacing. Should I convince him to wait it out for Ryzen or should he just go with an I5?

it just depends on his situation can he wait does he have a second computer he can use laptop etc does he need his computer. if he needs another computer go with an i5 but if he doesnt need it immediately waiting cant hurt if ryzen is actually decent it may even lower the prices of the i5

Literally a 2-3 week wait for potentially a lot more overall performance for the money, if nothing else it looks like Ryzen will offer a 4c/4t chip that can overclock for under $150

wait if at all possible

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

I was able to convince him to wait! He's also gonna save up a bit more and update to an RX 480 alongside a new CPU. All hail the master race.
