So I think that my current router is going bad, the Ethernet works, along with the 5G wifi but nothing can get onto the 2.4G wifi band. Yes i reset it, yes, I rebooted and all that stuff and nothing is working. So I am thinking that I will just have to get a new router. I have my desktop, I do a lot of gaming on and downloading stuff so it is the primary user, then there is my parents desktop, then another Ethernet cable going to my room if need be. Then for wireless, there is my phone, my tablet. my sisters phone, and my moms laptop. Suggestions?

Try a different 2.4ghz channel? You can change it in the router settings.  Chose either 1, 6 or 11.

None of them worked. I can see the network but nothing can connect to the 2.4.

Likely interference.  Devices ranging from microwaves to cordless phones can interfere with the 2.4 Gig spectrum.  It also doesn't help if you live in an apartment building/complex where there are a bunch of people using wireless.

Well then what do I do about the interference if that is what it is. BTW I live out of town so there isn't loads of wireless in tight quarters.

So what do I do about the interference?

There's not much you can do about interference except change the channel (which you've already said you tried) and hope that the problem goes away.  Other than that, you'll have to rely on the 5 Ghz band for wireless.  If you have spectrum analysis software and hardware, go ahead and use it to see what's causing the interference.

Would it still be interference even if the laptop or anything is right next to the router? And nothing in my house has really changed, I just cannot connect to the 2.4 randomly.

Distance from broadcast point does not diminish interference.  To try an analogy, if someone's trying to talk to you and you can't hear them because I'm screaming in your ear, moving closer is not going to get that other person's message through to you until I stopped screaming.

Ok, I just do not think it is interference cuz there have been no additions to the house. It is just not working now.
