I don't think they changed the cooling at all. I have not taken a look under the hood of the GS63vr with a 7th gen CPU.

It is only you that can decide if you think the 10'ish % on the CPU is worth 350$ for you.

I want an msi gs63vr laptop, I own a defective aourus x5 and plan to refund. I would like something smaller, thinner and lighter. I would like the 6rd which is alot cheaper (350usd cheaper) but msi tend to improve cooling on new models. Which is more worth it, I plan to own this for 2-3 years.

EDIT: Any other suggestions for really thin and light 15inch 1060 laptops?

Here is a decent list to look at for 1060 laptops.

I know its not too much help but I own a Dell XPS 15 with a 1050 and love it. Just got it and haven't gotten time to try gaming on it.

Well the 7th gen CPU is a bit faster, which would help a bit when you push the CPU, like you do in CPU demanding games.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

What game needs an i7-7700hq lol? Pretty sure an i7-6700hq would be more than enough?

GTA V, Witcher 3...

A i7 7700HQ is about 25% worse than a i5 7600k, just because of the lower clock speeds and a 6600k running at 4GHz has a hard enough time keeping up with a 1060 in some games.

A 7700HQ would be a nice fit for a 1060 in a laptop since those are also slower than the desktop counter parts, purely because they can't boost to the same level.

If theres no cooling improvement then in no way am I wasting 350 bucks on 7-10% gains.
