UEFI or BIOS?

LilJimmy

Forgive me if I posted this on the wrong section but I need help with a graphics card. What is the difference between a Nitro+ RX 470 OC and a Nitro+ RX 470 OC W/BP(UEFI)? I read that if my PC is UEFI and my card isn't, then my card wouldn't be able to boot. Is that any true? I'll just leave my PC specs below.

P.S : The UEFI card is cheaper.

1) Any 470 is going to support UEFI OOTB

2) No its not true, a UEFI system has a thing called CSM (compatibility support module) which allows it to boot with legacy hardware that does not fully support UEFI. Enabling CSM means you'll lose some UEFI benefits but your system will still boot perfectly.

Main Rig:-

Ryzen 7 3800X | Asus ROG Strix X570-F Gaming | 16GB Team Group Dark Pro 3600Mhz | Corsair MP600 1TB PCIe Gen 4 | Sapphire 5700 XT Pulse | Corsair H115i Platinum | WD Black 1TB | WD Green 4TB | EVGA SuperNOVA G3 650W | Asus TUF GT501 | Samsung C27HG70 1440p 144hz HDR FreeSync 2 | Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS |

Server:-

Intel NUC running Server 2019 + Synology DSM218+ with 2 x 4TB Toshiba NAS Ready HDDs (RAID0)

So should I just go with the Nitro+ OC W/BP(UEFI)???
