Disabling SSD cache

I have a Dell XPS 9560 that my little brother bought with the 56whr battery and when it arrived next week saw that the 32 SSD is used as raid 0 cache. I want to know if there's a way to disable that and keep its main mechanical drive without having to do the fresh install as he already began bought applications like MS word and his system already came with a firewall and I know he'll get mad if I don't know how to keep those license when doing a fresh install.

I don't think you can do that. The two drives are striped as one(If I said that correctly) if one is removed the raid fails.

 

I believe to accomplish your task you'd have to backup/clone the whole array to a single drive that can hold it all and use that.

Oops forgot to mention the reason my bad. I wanted to disable it so I can swap the cache drive for a SSD drive so it can be used as a new boot drive and keep his mechanical drive as storage. We were planning to buy a Samsung SSD nvme drive once we are able to swap it out

ive had a laptop like this. You can go into intel rapid storage technology utility on desktop, disable ssd caching, and then replace the drive.

I can do just that? I saw that the SSD configured as raid 0 cache so I was afraid disabling it would be a bad idea as most computers I have has everything in one drive and it's the first time I've encountered this so I was a lost on what to do.

it isnt exactly a raid 0 array. Raid 0 implies 2 equal capacity drives being striped. if it was true raid 0, you would have a max storage capacity of 64 gb. its simply caching to the ssd. You should be able to disable the caching.
