Assertion failed

I am getting an assertion failed but I cant quite figure out why.. the file I am trying to call (point.dat) is in my source files so what other things cause assertion to fail?

By default VS starts your program in $(ProjectDir) which isn't necessarily where your files are. Try using the full path to point.dat to make sure it works at all. If that does work, you'll need to either move your file or change the startup location in settings.

your file references are wrong somewhere, either writing or reading i cant tell. it helps to paste code instead of screen shots. too difficult for me to read
