Laptop... uh Problem?

For one Hi had to make a new account but secondly my laptop in sleep i hear the hard drive and fan kick in like its working extremely hard and then when i open it next it has been shut off and im not shutting it off at all just closing well lid is this a problem or just an annoyance or anything in general or am i legit just being stupid

Go into the power options on the control panel and see what the "Closing the Lid" option is set to.
