Pc restart instead of shutdown with network card

Davidbombe

Ok so i just build my first pc, here is the build : https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/29wzWX . Running windows 10 pro 64 bit , also GTX1070 not received yet (if that is relevant at all).

My problem is that my pc won't shut down or sleep when the network card is plugged in. It just always restart. I have downloaded all the lastest drivers, and i just cant figure out what im doing wrong right now !

Hey,

What is it plugged into, it is possible that there could be a problem with one of the lanes or possibly there could be one built into the system that is cont working properly. You could try moving it to one of the other PCIE lanes to see if that helps, remember 1x cards can be plugged into 16x slots so it may be worth trying that out

Hope this helps

@TurtleTrain Hey,

I tried pluging it in every other sloth and i get the same result, the system always restarts. Could that mean that my motherboard has a problem ? Maybe the network card ? Maybe software issue ? Thanks for your help !

Hey,

What happens if you unplug the power supply then plug it back in.

There could be a problem with the motherboard or other things, however there could be problems with other things, for example, is the card meant to work with your OS, or is there a conflicting thing within the system?

Hope this helps

@TurtleTrain Hey,

Thanks for your help, after looking on the web i found out its actually a common problem with this network card and mosty gigabyte motherboards! I am going to try and refund it to get another one !

Thanks again!
