Hi guys i want ask this noob question . . Does SATA 3 is compatible with my HDD 500gb SATA 3gb/s i just bought a new motherboard but i notice that motherboard doesnt support SATA 1 and SATA 2 port so does my SATA 3gb/s works with it or should i buy a new HDD?

Yes. All SATA standards are backwards compatible.

Yes. All SATA standards are backwards compatible.

So even though i use my old SATA HDD still it will work with my new MSI h87 g43 gaming mobo cuz this mobo supports SATA 3 6gb/s only? Sorry for asking this im so noob with this kind of stuff :)

Yep it will work. As long as it is SATA, it will work.

SATA is both forwards and backwards compatible. If you were to use a SATA II drive in a SATA III port, you'd get SATA II speeds. And if you were to use a SATA III drive in a SATA II port, you'd get SATA II speeds.
