Monitor gets no signal when graphics card is installed

KenoIsKey

So I just built my first computer with parts that were given to me and some parts that I bought.  I had lots of problems with this computer but everything seems to have been resolved except for my graphics card.  When the graphics card is plugged in and installed in the motherboard, my monitor receives no signal but when I take out the graphics card everything works perfectly fine.  All of these parts including the graphics card has never been used before except for the CPU.  My specs are in the link below.

EDIT: I am using an HDMI cable with no access to a VGA port.

Well you don't need to be mean about it.

I hope that's the issue, because then it's an easy fix.

I haven't been here long, but I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be a forum for helping people, not making them feel bad.  We all started somewhere.

This has nothing to do with the thread but I don't think 827 posts is new.

*Sigh.*

Did you try to connect the cable of the monitor to the video card?

Sorry for the late response but yes, I have tried that no need to sigh about it

I have only been here a few weeks.  I was out of work for awhile (I repair computers), and I had lots of time on my hands.  I was really active during that time period lol.

Have you tried another graphics card, or putting that one in a different computer?

Yeah it's properly plugged in

1- make sure the gpu is in properly and the pcie power cables are p[lugged in 2- use dvi or vga until the drivers are installed

hope this helped

Everything is properly plugged in, I didn't bother testing with DVI because I didn't think it would help with my experience with it.  Also I do not have any VGA ports on my computer which is unforunate because it is the most reliable in this situation.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback.

I just tried installing it again because I thought I might have not done something correct.  However it just worked surprisingly.  I'm not sure why but I'm just glad it worked and I used an HDMI cable as well.
