Planning a simple thing to do with my machine that involves a 13 year old Axis PC case that doesn't have mounting for my water cooler.

So I am looking for a 160mm or shorter cpu cooler for LGA2011.

Personally thinking about the....

-Noctua NH-U12P

-Zalman CNPS12X

-Phantek TC12DX

I would go for the Noctua cooler because they make very quiet fans and offer great cooling. :)

Go with the king NH-UP12 se2 , you don't need the D-14 ridiculous cooler

lool

Go back up and reread, thats what I said, D-14 doesn't fit in the case so I wrote it off my list awhile back. And I have a 3930k, which can make use of a D-14 better then most.

For a single tower heatsink I think the Hyper 212 is the way to go. It is a bit of a dog when it comes to looks though so I can see why you might not want it. Personally I'm not a fan of the Zalman when it comes to looks but I do really like the Phantek. If I had a window in my case I probably would have gone with that.

Only the Evo fits my socket, and I could replace the fan with RTS2011LC fan or Bitfenix Specter. Noctua cooler matches the case. Good thought though.
