I'm planning to build a new gaming pc. I would like this pc to be VR ready.

I had this in mind:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-7700 3.6GHz
  • CPU Cooler: Scythe Mugen 5
  • Video Card: Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1 Gaming
  • Motherboard: ASUS Prime Z270-K
  • Memory: Corsair 16GB DDR4-2400 CMK16GX4M2A2400C16
  • Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB
  • SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB
  • Case: Corsair Carbide Clear 400C
  • Power Supply: Corsair RM750i
  • OS: Windows 10

This however, is a little on the high side of the budget. (budget is around 1700€, this setup was ~1900€ on the site i'm ordering from (Alternate Belgium))

I'm not really sure about a few things:

  • Intel Core i7-7700 or Intel Core i7-7700K?
  • Scythe Mugen 5 or Scythe Mugen 4 or something completely different?
  • Power supply, is the Corsair RM750i overkill?

i would swap out that 1080 for a 1070. unless you plan on doing 4k gaming u dont need a 1080.  you can go for a 650w psu.  and if ur not going for a overclockable cpu then dont get a z270 board

Current Rig=  AMD Ryzen 9 5900x, Asus Crosshair Hero VIII, EVGA RTX 3070 FTW3 ultra, 32gb Corsair Vengence Pro RGB 3000hz White, EVGA 750 P2 PSU, 1TB Samsung 980 Pro, 500gb samsung 860 evo, 250GB Samsung 850 evo, 2TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus, 2TB seagate firecuda sshd,  LianLi PC 011 Dynamic XL ROG edition, Corsair h150i elite capelix

Any suggestions for a different motherboard?

go for a h270 for b150 board.  the z series boards are meant for overclocking

if you want to cut down on the price, you can use the stock cooler for now, get a cheaper b250/h270 mobo, cheaper case like the s340, change the ssd to a hynix sl308/crucial mx300, psu to a cheaper unit and get windows 10 from reddit. if you want to oc 7700k and if you don't get the 7700. the rm750i is overkill if you don;t wanna go sli, not overkill if you don't.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W
