I decided to overclock my amd fx-8350 to 4.5 ghz. I went in my bios and did everything correct and I hit save and restart and now my computer will not boot, my keyboard is not working, just a black screen, my monitor isnt even turning on. Any help? I have an MSI 970 Gaming mobo, gtx 960 16gb ddr3

^ this is always the first course of action in your scenario.

Also leave everything at stock, run a stress test and monitor what your vcore is doing for the frequency all cores sit on. Don't just go X settings will work, when you factor in different boards vdroop and just plain old power delivery design, its relatively easy but you still need to work an oc up slowly and monitor exactly what you need in the way of vcore.

This might sound completely out of the question, but doesn't the stock 8350 come with 4Ghz? I heard somewhere that overclocked FX CPUs run slower than stock. Just letting you know. THE MORE YOU KNOW! And about the overclock, did you reset CMOS yet?

This isn't true, once some power saving and clock down/boost settings are disabled and heat is kept in check there are very clear gains in oc'ing. AMD's power saving settings are kind of odd, and really hamper performance when your asking something of the cpu.

Unlike intel though, the FX line does suffer from really diminished returns,  3.3ghz - 4ghz my 8300 saw a huge improvement, 4.2-4.3 was basically nothing, and 4.2-4.7 (highest I could get stable) while a measurable increase in geek bench, not worth the extra clock speeds.

Leave it for 5 minutes with the power unpluged from the wall, then put the battery in and plug it back in and load into the bios to check things.
