USB Cable colors

I'm trying to mod a Micro-USB Type B cable for power-only, and I don't know the color coding. I searched for it, but some colors were different and I didn't want to play guess-the-colors later on.

Probe the USB type A connections to ensure they are correctly wired as some don't follow color scheme, however if it is correct the Red and black should be power.

I wouldn't trust the colors. Need to test them.

Do you have any suggestions? Today I kept looking at it trying to figure out a way that wouldn't involve unecessary wire cutting or the sacrifice of other devices, and came up with nothing.

The only way would be to cut it and use a multi-meter to check continuity.
