Lavalier mic help

Hello, I bought a $2 lavalier mic from eBay and it works suprisingly well on my phone but when I connect it to my PC it only starts putting out static and doesn't pick up any type of noise. Does anyone know a way to make it work?

Have to start with the most basic question: Make sure it is plugged into the mic jack AND the jack is tasked to microphone (if its a realtek board) AND make sure the mic you have just plugged in is set to the default device in your sound settings.
