So I needed to reinstall Steam and before I did that I had about 200 GB worh of games downloaded and after I reinstalled Steam the games are still there. The Steam app just can't see where my games are located. I there any way to "tell" it to look for them in a certain folder?

yeah you just need to add a steamlibrary, click the original one, and the games should all instantly pop up in your library again

(downloads tab, in steam settings)

In Steam -> Settings -> Downloads there's a button on top for download locations. Where to point it to gets tricky, so I'll explain the directory of a Steam game repo first:

  • [Root folder]
    • steamlib.dll (or something, there's a DLL here)
    • /SteamLib
      • /common
      • and a bunch of "appmanifest####" files.

So you want to point it to the root folder, where that steamlib.dll lives.
