Optifine

I am thinking about downloading Optifine to use some shaders on Minecraft...

 

Is Optifine safe? I know there are fake versions out there, but is the real one malicious too?

I downloaded it (from the real website), and it said this in the bottom of the screen:

Should I download it anyway? Or is the real version still malicious

Chrome says that about files a ton, I usually just ignore it.

If you got it from the real site you're fine.

 

I'm actually pretty sure Chrome ALWAYS says that about .jar files

Did you download it from the Optifine website?

 

I'd ignore it anyway but just make sure it's groovy before installing.

I have used Optifine on 2 different computers and I love it, it works really well for mods and stuff. I personally haven't had any issues with it being malicious.

if you use the official optifine site you will be fine, it is one of the best mods in my opinion
