PSU Amperage

zeros

I want to change my 450W PSU but I'm not sure on the amperage. The current one has

+5V/36A; +12V19A; +3.3V/31A; -12V/0.5A; +5Vsb/2A. The one I want to change it(also 450W) has

+5V/24A; +12V1/20A; +3.3V/20A; -12V/0.8A; +5Vsb/2.5A.

The 5V and the 3.3V are that have way big of a difference. Also if it helps my PC has

CPU: AMD Athlon 635 X4 OC to 3,51GHz / stock cooler; 95W.

RAM: Kingston 800MHz 2x2Gb;

HDD: a 1TB WD Green Drive and a 2TB Seagate Barracuda;

GPU: ATi HiS HD4670 iSilence 4, 1GB, 128bit; (says on newegg minimum 400w PSU).

If anything else is necessary so I can solve this issue. The current PSU is 3 years old and it started to be loud. It's a Delux ATX-450W-P4 and the one I want to change it to is Floston FL450 sayed to be silent and really cheap.

I will get a new PC but before that I have to use this one so I want to use this one but it has to be good as I still play games that use my system 80-90%.

:)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12; GPU: GeForce RTX 3080 Gigabyte Vision OC V2 10GB; PSU: EVGA 750W 80+ Gold Certified; RAM: 4x32GB (w/RGB xd); SSD: 1xM.2 Samsung 980 Pro 1TB, 1xM.2 Samsung 970 Pro 1TB, 1xWD 6TB HDD; OS: 10; Monitor: 2xAorus IPS 27" (2560x1400)Keyboard: Corsair K95; Mouse: Mionix Naos 7000 w/ Steelseries QcK mousepad.

Is someone here who knows if I can go ahead and buy it? Or should I experiment? >.>

Linus should make a video that explains amperage :(

Firstly your current psu is probably just loud because it's filled with dust and getting warm, thus making it increase the speed of the fan.

Get a compressor, compressed air in a can, mattress pump or just blow into it to get the dust out, it should quiet right down.

Oh, and do it outside. Trust me on that.

Newer power supplies tend to have a weaker 3.3v and 5v rail, because most components are 12v based. I believe that's probably why it's a lot lower than your older unit.

That said, I would advise against that power supply. It may be cheap, but looking at the amps it seems more like a 300w unit to me, investing in a higher quality unit may be a better choice (S12II 430w, CX430, NAXN 450w, etc).

If you actually wanna change power supply, get a high quality $100-$150 unit at 500+ watts and just transfer that to your next PC whenever you decide to upgrade. It will essentially just be an early purchase of one component of your future upgrade.

I'd recommend sticking to the big name brands, Corsair and Seasonic are my favorites.

Yeah I was thinking of getting one for the new PC and use it on this one until that one is complete but new PC will need at least 600W probably between 800-850W, as I will go with high end components trying to care less for money and more price/gain of each component. (and a future cross-fire).

@Christoi thanks for the actual choices if I wouldn't want to get a new PC I would probably go with the NAXN 450W, seems to have enough Sata cables for a future SSD, which would be the first thing to buy for the new PC, which I could actually use on this one.

Oh well I will try again to clean it. If still nothing I'll experiment with the cheap one... No matter if I get it now or not I've got to order a DVD Burner so I was going to save some shipping expenses, but the NAXN +DVD Burner is above what I have on my card right now. That cheap Floston is like a fourth of the NAXN price which means it's probably lame :(.
