Hello guys,

I just bought a LG 55UH615A 4k HDR tv for $500 at cosco. Should I spend half of its price ($250) to have a guy at bestbuy to calibrate my TV, or is there another way to calibrate it to have the "best" quality?

Second problem:

I'm NOT a gamer, but I do enjoy watching Dota2 and CS:GO on Twitch tv. Right now I connect my Asus UX303UA via Monster - Platinum Line 4K UltraHD HDMI Cable and having 200 mbps internet speed from Comcast.

When I watch live stream with 1080p60 resolution on my laptop it runs smooth, but when I connect it to the TV the content starts to lagging and unwatchable (even at 720p30). Only with Live stream tho, youtube videos and netflix and anything else run smoothly. So the problem here is my laptop being too weak, right? Im planning on building a pc with latest i7 and gtx1080 to push all the pixel to the TV (considering i5, but will i5 bottleneck the gtx1080 and im still cant watch the videos?)

Yes Im dumb, and trying to be as specific as I can here, so help me out guys, give me some advices, Im really appreciate it.

Don't pay that guy, that is absurd. Have a look for reviews online theres usually youtube videos of guys explaining what settings they used to get the best settings. Also check out AVSforums.

As for the lagging im not sure what is going on there, if the laptop can run 1080 fine it should run it fine on your TV (your TV will handle the upscaling)

If you're gonna game and can fit the i7 in the budget I definitely recommend it (see my purple text)

That's only true if he's outputting at 1080p, but when he plugs in his laptop it will change the resolution to 4k (native) not just upscale 1080p. He'd have to manually set the resolution back down to 1080p in his display settings.

Having issues with a Corsair AIO? Possible fix here:

Spoiler

Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link?

Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.)

Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly.

-For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked.

-For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components.

-For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors.

That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it.

Calibration largely doesn't make sense in the home.  Is it a scam?  No.  It's valuable when targeting specific results.  If you are working on creative projects it can be a benefit to have all screens calibrated in line.  It makes sense for a professional theater to be calibrated for uniform viewing.  But in your living room, it's a subjective experience, play with the color settings until YOU like what you see because that's what matters.  What you feel is 'ideal' may not be what the 'correct' calibration is, but what is REALLY correct is what feels right to you.

well yes, but he said it even does it @720P unless op is referring to the stream quality rather than the set res, which would mean it purely is down to the laptop hardware

I think it is pury down to the laptop hardware like u said, the res is still 1080p native when I connect the laptop to the TV, so I guess time to save for a new pc then....
