hi guys, im looking to upgrade my pc the current spec is:

i5-2300

GTX-660

gigabyte motherboard,

8Gb of ram.

60Gb SSD just for OS

1Tb drive for other applications

the system is for light gaming (day-z and gta)

but also for video editing.

Here's the thing, i wanna upgrade the motherboard and CPU and then upgrade the GPU in a few months. BUT i don't have a huge budget probably around £200 GBP with a little scope, what would you guys recommend, i don't mine AMD or Intel. I was looking at the FX-8320/8350 because they're quite cheap, and from what i can find any intel equivalents are double the cost. thanks in advance for the help.

Intel equivalents are probably i5 4460 or so.

If you want an upgrade, you could look into getting an i7 2600(K) tbh.

Otherwise you should really just wait for Zen, it's probably a month away.

Let's hope Ryzen also have budget chips.

I would assume SR3 (which would be the 4 core 8 thread one + AM4 motherboard) would be at least be similarly prices compared to an FX 8320+970 board.

Can't call them quite 'budget' like the Athlon X4 chips from the past couple years, but at least somewhere in OP's budget.

Most motherboards should have a BIOS update do get compatibility with Ivy Bridge. I'd do that and buy a used 3770k or a 3770 if you don't have a Z series motherboard.

They're 2x the cost because they're NOT equivalent. I recommend an i3 or i5. The FX series have very weak performance per core.
