Welcome to the forums! A couple comments on your build

- The Hyper 212 EVO is a trash cooler especially for a chip with cooling problems like the 7700K. These two coolers wipe the floor with it.

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/jK8H99/cryorig-cpu-cooler-h5universal

- Z170 motherboards can be made to work with 7000-series CPUs, but most don't work out of the box. Grab a Z270

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/kFp323/asrock-fatal1ty-z270-gaming-k4-atx-lga1151-motherboard-fatal1ty-z270-gaming-k4

- That's a lot of money for 16GB RAM. Take this kit which is also faster (faster RAM up to 3200MHz does affect gaming performance).

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/pfPzK8/gskill-memory-f42800c16d16gvg

- No computer today should go without an SSD. Spending 40 seconds waiting for Windows to boot should be a thing of the past. Get this.

That's it, solid build otherwise.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

If you REALLY don't need a new pc now, i would suggest waiting for RYZEN. That would be much better for you.

The inner machinations of my mind are an enigma.

You have the wrong motherboard, you need a better cooler for the i7 7700K, needs an SSD for that budget, I cut out $1000 without losing a great deal of GPU capability for 1440p gaming anyways, won't be running AAA games at 144fps high/ultra of course, but it'll be above 60 anyways, and like Overwatch would run at 144fps no issue

When are you building? As Ryzen and Vega is launching soon

I'd highly suggest some better performance per dollar parts, like the $260 Fury here with this pixio 1440p 144hz IPS free-sync display, at half the price of the G-sync display, you could also potentially crossfire 480s, but that's not really worth it as Vega will be out soon

Get the Prime Z270-A from Asus and not the Z170-A if you're interested in having a Kaby chip. Not really a whole lot of reason not to, especially since you will probably need a BIOS update to make the Z170 board work. Its the same or better as the Z170-A in every way as far as i know, and its only like 10 bucks more: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/7VZ2FT/asus-prime-z270-a-atx-lga1151-motherboard-prime-z270-a

Get the Cryorig H7 CPU cooler instead of the Hyper 212. Its a bit better in cooling, more universally compatible, and a hell of a lot better looking. Should be plenty of cooling if you're unsure about how much overclocking you want to do (if any): https://pcpartpicker.com/product/93Crxr/cryorig-cpu-cooler-h7

Absolutely 100% get some kind of an SSD for your OS. It will make a world of difference in your day-to-day use. Adata-SP550, Crucial MX300, or any other reasonably priced 2.5" SATA SSD. You should get something ~250GB or more if you can so you could even drop a few games on it. Having a HDD is still good for mass storage, so its not like you should be choosing one or the other.

Other than that it looks great, and your choice of monitor is arguably the best gaming monitor on the market today for those interested in competitive gaming. If you need to bring the cost down a tad in order to fir your budget, get a cheaper kit of RAM (16GB does not need to be that expensive) and get a smaller wattage PSU.

Sorry he had an H5 Universal not an H7 and he had problems fitting it in the NZXT S340. The clearance is about 1-2 mm. He couldn't get it to fit.
