Problems Overclocking 6600K

Hey there,

 

I've been trying to overclock my 6600K to 4.4GHz.

My Settings are:

XMP: Enabled (2400MHz Ram)

Multiplier: 44

BCLK: 100

Vcore: Manual at 1.3V (Started at 1.28).

Asus Z170-E Bios version 3307

 

It will pass Cinebench, and RealBench on stress for 3 hours. But when I run IntelBurnTest, it will consistently fail at 1000 seconds on maximum. I have moved the voltage from 1.28 to 1.3, but same result. Also, I have the LLC set to Auto, and it spikes my voltage up to 1.344V, and I have tried setting it to Level 1 (15%) and same result. Also, it crashed playing GTA 5, but is fine in every other game. Max temps reached was 78-80-77-78.

 

Anyone have any suggestions?

Try setting LLC to high and set the Vcore to a little lower. 1.3v for 4.4 GHz seems a little too much.

My 6600k has been running at 4.4 GHz consistently @ Vcore = 1.26v (other configs same as yours).

The settings for LLC are Level 1-7.. So you're saying 7?

At first go? Of course not!  Try starting at 4.

Well after some messing around, I got 43 multiplier at 101.3 BCLK so 4.35GHz stable at 1.27V. Ran IntelBurnTest for 50 runs, no problems, and ASUS RealBench for an hour of stress testing. Guess 4.4 wasn't mean to be.

You could also try Prime 95 (Small FFT test) if you are obsessed with stability. BTW, what did you ultimately set the LLC at?

I think it's on 6 or 7.. Voltage at 1.275, under load it hits 1.31V at max. So thats better than it hitting 1.36 or 1.37

Yeah, the lower the core voltage,the cooler it'll run. If possible, try lowering the idle voltage a little,as the peak voltage seems too high for 4.35 Ghz.

It doesnt even hit 80 on Intel Burn Test on Max, which is way more stressful that Prime95
