Sorry if this is in the wrong forum!! I'm new!! Would it be cheaper to buy something like, a Razer Laptop or some other pre-built PC from Canaderp and have it imported to the US? I know that the Canadian dollar is worth less than the American dollar atm. However, I'm not sure if there is an import tax when importing from Canaderp. Would a place like NCIX even let me buy a system or an item from them at the canadian price on their canadian site, or would they force me to buy from their US site? Same with newegg and tiger etc.

They probably wouldn't let you have a product shipped from Canada to the US when the retailer has a US site.  Newegg for example only lets you use USD on US site. Maybe take a holiday to Canada and get PC parts shipped to the hotel? haha

idk

You do realize that if X item costs $US in the US, X item will cost $CA (Which is equal to $US * CAEX) in Canada

and CA is equal to $US *

If a AMD A10 7890k costs $149 US and the exchange rate for US dollars to Canadian Dollars is 1.32

$US * CAEX = $CA

$149 * 1.32 = $196.68, the actual Candian cost is $195, which is so bloody close in price.

No, buying from an item from X country will not save you money if you live in Y country in most cases.

Except AU, where importing my GPU saved me $70. Our dollar is as bad as CAD, and still a 1070 is $650 and yet I paid $580 through Amazon.

idk

How much was shipping? and when did you buy it?

Avoiding GST is technically illegal and you could be fined if you got caught.

December 30th, and it was $600 AUD, but I used a code to take it down $10 USD and then used the extension code to take it down further. Ended up like $575.

Not illegal as purchase is under $1000AUD - therefore GST doesn't apply when imported - and if it's over Amazon factors in the taxes into the Shipping and Handling.

idk

How is importing an electronics item from another country illegal? lol Honestly, I thought canadian prices were going to be cheaper seeing as how their dollar is worth less than the US. Same with me buying a game from another country and having it imported. I thought it would be cheaper buying brand new from another country. :-/
