No light or anything I think all the stuff is plugged in

Just check every cable if they are plugged in all the way check your ram if it's completely in and both are in the same position,

Check if you plugged the pin connectors on the right one (positive/negative)

First of all is your PSU turned on at the rocker switch? Second does you motherboard power on if you short circuit the power pins? If those two aren't the problem does that cpu have on board graphics? If so i would recommend taking out the graphics card and attempting to boot without it. If none of those work try using only 1 stick of Ram.

On board graphics has nothing to do with it if it does nothing

I think if it was in the wrong header it would still post. By the sound of things the LEDs aren't even powering on. Normally an empty CPU header prompts an error code at least before powering down. This case doesn't seem to even post.

My Z170-A will not ...as a safety measure, I assume.

@ jamespsu hi bud sorry to cut in between just wanted to suggest somethings

the easiest way to check is to try starting the system outside the cabinet (due to shorts due to faulty mb stand offs at times)

next is connect only CPU 12V Cable and Mb 24pin power connector and try powering on the system using the Power header on the mb front panel using a Philips screw driver
