What is this ROG front base?

Hi,

 

Not sure which section this would go in. But basically what is the ROG front base for and is it worth it or is it just a gimmick. I am trying to decide on a new case between the Enthoo Luxe Tempered Glass and S340 Elite Tempered glass. The ROG front base requires front bays so obviously finding out if it's worth it and what it actually does other than fan control would help on my decision.
